At the centre of any church is worship and prayer. the only reason a church is called a church is because the people meeting there are called 'the church'.
It is this group of people that give the building it's name, the atmosphere created in St Chad's church building is so, through it being used as a place of worship and prayer.
God is not more present in the building but as each person makes up the church and God is part of each person, then when lots of people get together who are filled with the Holy Spirit and the presence of God it is no wonder that some of that rubs off on the building.
If we feel detached from the church and from God then one step towards closing that gap is to pray. If we don't know what to say we could tell God about our day, about things that concern us in our lives and the world. We can mention peoples names, family, friends and neighbours.
If we don't know what to pray then we can use the prayer Jesus taught his disciples and through that taught us.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen
